How to write emails people actually read 📬

Turn a 5-minute ramble into a short email that delivers value and drives clicks.

Hello everybody, welcome back to Moodboard 🌴

When people are just getting started with email/newsletter marketing, they tend to assume that every single send needs to be a 2,000-word masterpiece.

I understand the instinct, but there are two big problems with that approach.

#1: It's unsustainable. Consistency, experimentation, and velocity are the three most important factors when you're launching a new channel. If every edition is a multi-day research project, most operators burn out by week six.

#2: Most people won't read it anyway. As much as we may hate to admit it, your subscribers are not settling in for an 8-part thinkpiece at 9AM on a Tuesday.

So instead of aiming for a masterpiece, the goal for every send should be simple:

  • Provide as much value as you can (as concisely as you can)

  • Drive to a single CTA

Alex Hormozi executes this style really well with his Mozi Money Minute newsletter, and we can too.

It makes starting (and consistently sending) a newsletter a lot less intimidating.

To help you experiment with it, I built you a Claude Skill 👇

The Bulletproof Email Skill

This works like the other prompts/skils I've shared. Paste it into Claude and it takes over from there.

Feed it two things:

  1. A transcript of you rambling about one contained, specific topic that's valuable to your ICP. Open Wispr Flow and talk for five minutes, messy is fine. (If you need help picking topics, use the Topic Bank Wizard we shared a few weeks back.)

  2. The product or offer you want to drive to. The skill will ask for it if you forget.

From there, it drafts an email that's under 250 words, delivers the full value of your idea up front, and transitions cleanly into a single CTA for your offer.

You also get 3 subject line options, preview text, and a workshop phase where you can tighten the draft, try a different angle, or rework the bridge to your CTA until it's ready to send.
