Create ads with Nano Banana Pro 🍌

Google's new image model is a game-changer for marketers.

Hello everybody, welcome back to Moodboard - and Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃

This year, I'm especially grateful for you, Moodboard readers. It’s been a little over 6 months of writing this newsletter (we’re still so early!), and it’s turned into a real passion project for me.

Thank you for subscribing, thank you for reading 🙏

Today, I'm breaking down Google's brand new image generation model, Nano Banana Pro, and sharing a simple, powerful workflow that turns you into an ad creative machine.

Let's dive in 👇

Nano Banana Pro Is Insanely Good

Last week, Google released Nano Banana Pro, their new image generation model built on Gemini 3 Pro.

And it is good. Very good.

It solves the biggest gripe that I had with the first Nano Banana model (inaccurate rendering of text) and builds upon the last model’s strengths (consistency/coherency between generations) to become the far-and-away most useful image generation model for marketers.

I mean, just take a look at this explainer comic that I ‘one-shotted’ this morning 👇

That's with no notes, edits, anything. Just one detailed prompt (that I built with a little help from Claude, of course).

This is huge for marketers (or really anyone creating/publishing content).

Reliably accurate text means you can actually create legible ads, social graphics, infographics, etc. without spending an extra 20 minutes in Canva fixing the LLM’s spelling mistakes.

So, to demonstrate just how powerful this model is, I wanted to share a streamlined ad creation workflow that takes advantage of Nano Banana Pro's unique capabilities.

The Workflow: Ad Creation with Nano Banana Pro

From a high-level, the process is simple:

  1. Meta-prompt with Claude to ideate ad concepts and generate detailed image prompts

  2. Generate in Nano Banana Pro using those prompts

  3. Iterate conversationally until you nail it

The whole thing takes about 10-15 minutes.

Step 1: Meta-Prompting with Claude

Meta-prompting = using AI to write better prompts for other AI tools.

Instead of struggling to craft the perfect image prompt yourself, you get Claude to do the heavy lifting.

This step is also great for ideation. Claude will analyze your product and come up with angles you might not have thought of.

Here's the meta-prompt I use. All you have to do is copy-paste it into Claude 👇️

You are an expert creative director specializing in digital advertising who excels at crafting compelling visual concepts that drive conversions. I need your help creating eye-catching square image ads for my product.

Product description: [PASTE YOUR PRODUCT DESCRIPTION HERE]

Ad style preferences: [ENTER YOUR STYLE PREFERENCES HERE]

Please provide me with 5 detailed image prompts I can input directly into an AI image generator to create square Meta ad images.

Before writing these prompts, carefully analyze my product description to identify core value propositions using the strategic thinking approaches of Joseph Sugarman and Gary Halbert. Consider emotional benefits, practical solutions, unique advantages, and attention-grabbing hooks - but do not list these separately in your response.

Each prompt should:

1. Be highly specific about visual elements, composition, style, and mood

2. Include color schemes that match my reference images and complement my product

3. Be optimized for square format (1:1 ratio) social media ads

4. Incorporate visual elements and branding from any attached reference images

5. Match the overall aesthetic described in my style preferences

6. Specify exact, concise ad copy (maximum 20-25 words) that powerfully communicates a value proposition

7. Avoid generic or clichéd iconography (like random arrows, checkmarks, or standard stock imagery symbols)

8. Use meaningful imagery that directly connects to the product benefits and value proposition

Your response should contain ONLY the 5 numbered image generation prompts, each ready to copy/paste into an image generator and beginning with "Please create…".

The only sections you need to fill out are:

  • [PRODUCT DESCRIPTION]: A clear explanation of what you're selling and who it's for. Feel free to throw in whatever docs, descriptions, or landing page copy you think are relevant.

  • [STYLE PREFERENCES]: The visual and tonal direction you want (e.g., "Simple and classy, like a 1960s print ad" or "Bold and energetic with bright colors"). Get creative here.

You can also attach any reference images that would be helpful. Screenshots of landing pages, product photos, brand guidelines, color palettes, whatever feels relevant.

Hit submit, and Claude will give you five detailed prompts ready to paste into Nano Banana Pro.

Step 2: Generate in Nano Banana Pro

The easiest way to access Nano Banana Pro is through the Gemini app.

Take each prompt from Claude and paste it directly in. Within ~30 seconds, you'll have your first concepts.

The composition will be intentional. The text will actually be legible. And, because Claude pre-optimized the prompt, you should get some really cool, interesting outputs right off the bat.

Step 3: Iterate Conversationally

Need changes? Just ask.

Nano Banana Pro handles conversational refinement really well. Because text rendering is finally accurate, you can ask it to change headlines, CTAs, or any aspect of the copy, and it will actually do it correctly.

You can also provide screenshots and ask the model to add specific elements to your images. For example, I gave it an image of the Vibe Marketer OS landing page and asked it to change the screen on the laptop in the below ad concept.

It did it pretty much perfectly on the first try.

For bigger pivots, go back to Claude and ask for new prompt variations based on what you liked/didn’t like from the first round.

Try It Out

15 minutes of experimentation here should blow your mind.

The combination of Claude's prompt-writing ability and Nano Banana Pro's incredible execution is killer. We’re really living in the future.

This only scratches the surface of this model, to be honest. I will be experimenting with Nano Banana Pro A LOT more, so expect some more prompts/workflows to come.

For now, give this workflow a shot and send me your generations!

Until next week,

Ryan
