A prompt that builds your landing page (by asking the right questions)

A workflow for creating great looking, high-converting pages.

Hello everybody, welcome back to Moodboard 🌴

This week, I wanted to share a simple but powerful prompt I created for building landing pages & sales pages.

Instead of trying to write a prompt from scratch (and inevitably forgetting key elements), this meta-prompt interviews you about your business and creates a complete prompt for AI-page builders like Lovable/Replit based on your answers.

Less time, less guesswork, better results.

Ready to see how it works? Let's dive in 👇

What is a "Process-Based Meta-Prompt"?

Okay, I’ll be the first to admit that sounds like a bunch of jargon (I definitely need to work on a catchier name 😂).

It’s really pretty simple though.

A meta-prompt is a prompt that creates other prompts.

If you've read any past edition of Moodboard, you know I love this approach. It saves time and consistently produces better results than trying to craft the perfect prompt from scratch.

(I've shared meta-prompts for everything from Midjourney images to Veo 3 videos to LinkedIn posts, you can check those out here in the Moodboard archive)

More recently, I've started building these prompts to be process-based, which means they gather information systematically through a series of questions/decisions before creating the final output.

Instead of trying to cram everything into one massive prompt ("Create a sales page for my coaching business that helps entrepreneurs with productivity and includes testimonials and pricing and..."), the AI interviews you first.

Why this works better:

  • You get more accurate information from the start. The AI asks you everything it needs to know, so you don't forget important details or end up with generic copy that doesn't fit your business.

  • It forces you to think through your offer systematically. The structured questions make you clarify your value proposition, target audience, and key benefits before any writing begins.

  • You can reuse the same process for any product or client. Once you have the meta-prompt, you can use it to create sales pages for different offers without starting from scratch each time.

Honestly, to see just how much better this approach is, you kind of have to experience it for yourself ⬇️

The Prompt

Alright, here's the meta-prompt I use for creating landing pages & sales pages.

It’s built so that all you have to do is drop it into Claude or ChatGPT and the interview will begin (I’d recommend Claude, as, in my experience, the first-draft of the copy will be better).

All you gotta do is copy and paste 🤝

I need you to ask me 5-6 questions (one at a time) to gather the information needed to create a complete Lovable prompt for building a high-converting sales page.

Please start by asking me the first question. After I answer, ask the next question until you have enough information to create a detailed Lovable prompt.

The questions should cover:

- What I'm selling and who it's for

- Key benefits and unique value proposition

- Pricing and offer structure

- Call-to-action and conversion goals

After gathering all information through your questions, create a complete, copy-paste ready prompt that starts with "Build a..." that I can use directly in Lovable to generate a professional sales page.

The final Lovable prompt should include:

- Hero section with compelling headline and subheading

- Clear value proposition and benefits

- Social proof section (testimonials, logos, stats)

- Features/benefits breakdown

- Pricing section with clear offer

- FAQ section addressing common objections

- Strong call-to-action buttons

- Professional design and mobile-responsive layout

- Modern startup aesthetic with clean typography (Inter font preferred)

- Vibrant (but not visually overwhelming) use of gradients typical of SaaS companies

- Glass morphism effects with backdrop blur for visual depth

- Large, bold headlines with gradient text effects

- Modern card-based layouts with hover animations

- Fixed header with prominent call-to-action button

Please ask me the first question to get started.

The Workflow (and Tips)

Once you've copy-pasted into Claude/ChatGPT, the AI will ask you one question at a time.

Answer with as much detail as you'd like (the more detail you share, the more accurate/compelling the sales page will be).

I would HIGHLY recommend that you use a voice-to-text software like Wispr Flow for a process like this. It makes the entire interview smoother, faster, and more conversational/natural.

At the end of the interview, you'll receive a prompt for use in an AI page builder like Lovable or Replit.

It's worded so that all we have to do is copy-paste this into one of those builders, hit enter, and our page will be built.

You may notice that I did add some design preferences to the meta-prompt. These are just boilerplate instructions that, in my experience, create professional quality pages in Lovable.

If you don't like the design that it spits out, or if there are any elements of the page that you'd like to change, it's as simple as conversationally prompting Lovable/Replit to make the adjustments that you want.

It usually fixes what I ask it to on the first try 👍

I don't know about you all, but, even with all of my experimentation, the novelty of this hasn't worn off for me. It still feels like magic.

Give It a Try

The next time you need to create a landing page/sales page, try the process-based prompting approach instead of jumping straight into building.

5-10 minutes of interview upfront saves you from a lot of time-consuming revision later.

I guarantee that, once you see how much better the results are, you'll want to start applying this process-based approach to other types of AI-assisted content creation too.

Try it out and let me know what you think 🫡

Until next week,

Ryan
